A welding table or a workbench:
Welding on the ground
is impractical, uncomfortable, and may even put your safety at risk. Before you
start a welding project, you need to find a solid surface to work on. Whether
that’s a traditional workbench or a dedicated welding table, that’s up to you,
but don’t skimp on this.
Welding Clamps:
This is an absolute
must-have welding tool. Welding clamps allow you to firmly set up your workpiece, so the welding will produce a tight joint. Clamps come in many different
sizes. It’s best to have at least 10 clamps, so you’ll always have one ready
for the project at hand.
Welding Magnets:
Another essential for
welding projects is the magnet. Using them, you can set up your metal pieces to
hold at a variety of angles, such as 45, 90 and other. They also come in
different sizes, so you can get a few of them to always be available for
different project needs.
Wire and Electrode Feed:
Depending on the type
of welding you’ll be doing, you’ll be using either a wire or electrode feed.
Wire feed is used in TIG welding because the electrode is non-consumable. MIG
welding uses consumable electrodes but also uses wire feed. However, stick

Measuring Tools:
When it comes to
welding, every measurement needs to be precise and that requires using
dedicated measuring tools. Depending on your project and your preference, this
usually means anything from measuring tape, callipers, framing squares or metal
rulers. I prefer to use a digital calliper whenever possible since I find it the
easiest and most precise measuring tool, but anything else that fits the mantra
of “measure twice, cut once” is a good option
Safety Equipment:
Due to the temperature
and elements involved, welding is highly dangerous and can be lethal if handled
incorrectly. Before you touch a welding setup, wear a welding helmet that
protects your eyes, earplugs, solid boots to protect your feet from sparks or
slag, welding gloves to protect your hands and leathers to cover the rest of
